MY MISSION
Argentina Buenos Aires North
Overview
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), I had the opportunity to serve God by serving a proselyting mission for two years in Argentina (the Argentine Republic).   The purpose of the mission was to bring souls to Christ, attracting new converts and strengthening the faith of the membership of the LDS church in general. This was a defining experience for me, and brought both happiness and difficulty.   I returned from Argentina in June 1997.

The yellow sun with the human face (found on Argentina's official flag and shield) is known as the Sun of May.

Only my first three months were spent within the capital city of Buenos Aires, in Barrio La Boca, which got its name by being at the mouth of the sea, and by being bordered by a river with the shape of a smiley face.   I also lived in several areas west and northwest of the capital, in the province of Buenos Aires, which is one of 23 provinces outside of the capital district.  Some of these areas were in outlying "suburbs" near the capital, while others were farm towns farther inland.  I even lived a few months in the southern tip of the province of Santa Fe.
